BEGINNERS BURLESQUE WORKSHOP SERIES:
Tuesdays, April 4th – May 20th
Three separate courses, each level building upon the last, working the continuing education burlesque student to stage readiness. The workshop series is designed to give students a complete beginners burlesque education, with attention to act & character development as well as technique & movement training, behind the scenes etiquette, costuming, history and so much more. The program is set at a once-a-week, comfortable pace to allow for hands-on understanding and integration of the art form in real time practice. Each level includes individual student attention & mentoring, with options for those that just want to try out “The Art of the Tease” for fun or exercise! The workshop is open to all genders and body types, and no experience is necessary!
Beginners 101 Workshop:
The first step into the journey of “The Art of the Tease!” The Burlesque 101 workshop is a self empowering, confidence building 7-week, basic dip into the world of Burlesque. Students will learn classic burlesque moves such as shimmies, bumps & grinds, boa work, glove & stocking peels, makeup, pastie making & tassel twirling, a short historical & cultural lesson, and will learn a group routine for (optional) recital performance. All experience levels welcome, emphasis in learning placed on comfortability of movement, self…and fun!
Burlesque 101 Workshop registration is $250 in advance (register by 3/28). Registration fee is $275 thereafter. Limited space available. Payment breakdown options available, please email for more info!
Beginners 102 Workshop:
Level II of our Beginners Burlesque Workshop Series, with 6-weeks of character & act creation classes, stage-readying and behind-the-scenes etiquette classes, developing the student towards their first burlesque solo. Students must have completed the 101 program or equivalent program to register for this course. Emphasis in learning is on successful act creation and preparation for burlesque beyond the classroom. Includes (optional) recital performance on 5/19/17.
Burlesque 102 Workshop Series registration is $200 in advance (register by 3/28). Registration fee is $225 thereafter. Discount offered for 101 + 102 Workshop registration in advance for $425 (must complete payment prior to first class date). Limited space available. Beginners 201 Workshop:
The third and final level of our Beginners Burlesque Workshop Series, with performing on the showgirl stage in mind! Students will round out their introductory level burlesque education with industry etiquette, movement & skill refinement, in-depth costuming, personal polish classes and more. Students must have completed the 101 and 102 programs to register for this course. This series will give students a “behind the curtains” perspective of “the Art of the Tease,” as it relates to their personal creativity, journey, and goals. Includes recital performance on 5/19/17.
Burlesque 102 Workshop Series registration is $200 in advance (register by 1/3). Registration fee is $225 thereafter. Congrats to Venessa Chevelle!
Congratulations to student Venessa Chevelle for being the first recipient of the Boom Boom Basics BurlyCon Scholarship Award! Through money raised via each of our Student Recital raffles, we are able to financially assist students to attend the world’s only burlesque educational convention, BurlyCon! To support our Scholarship, please email us about raffle prize donation, or just spread the word about our recitals! Every little bit helps our students better reach their burlesque goals!
And here’s a little incentive to find out more about what all this “burlesque” thing is about (hint, hint, it’s fun, sexy, liberating and a quality evening of live entertainment).
