Congrats to Venessa Chevelle!

Congratulations to student Venessa Chevelle for being the first recipient of the Boom Boom Basics BurlyCon Scholarship Award! Through money raised via each of our Student Recital raffles, we are able to financially assist students to attend the world’s only burlesque educational convention, BurlyCon! To support our Scholarship, please email us about raffle prize donation, or just spread the word about our recitals! Every little bit helps our students better reach their burlesque goals!

And here’s a little incentive to find out more about what all this “burlesque” thing is about (hint, hint, it’s fun, sexy, liberating and a quality evening of live entertainment).

10/25, 7:30-8:30pm
11/16, 6:30-8pm
12/14, 6:30-8pm

Boom Boom Basics Burlesque & Performing Arts Studio is pleased to announce the return of MONTHLY Act Critique Sessions aka the “Peer Review,” with a revitalized and revamped open format!

Aimed to help presenters gain priceless feedback to apply to their own artistic editing processes, AND to give presenters the tools to critique themselves solo better at home. The new open format invites all attendees to share feedback with each presenter, in a curated process lead and moderated by Boom Boom Basics Headmastress Deanna Danger and staff instructor Lottie Ellington. Open to all burlesque and variety performers of all genres and all experience levels. Presenting sign up is first come first serve, and space is limited. Email boomboombasics@gmail.com to sign up.

Peer Review’s are FREE to attend/participate, however DONATIONS are graciously accepted, with 100% of the funds collected donated to support Gallery 5, who has been generous enough to offer space to the Richmond burlesque & variety scenes to better their art. PLEASE NO LURKERS! This is not a “show,” attendees should be burlesque or variety performers themselves. Lurkers will be asked to leave, as we aim to provide a safe, supportive, inspiring, comfortable studio classroom atmosphere to receive thoughtful & experienced feedback from your local instructors, producers and peers!

Participants should bring their own music on ipod or mobile playing device, bring as much or as little costuming or props as needed to show the routine (the more the routine can be shown in full, the more effective feedback can be given)!
